CLIFF RICHARD : EVIL (Audio)

An interview that Cliff Richard did in 1989 with Joe Jackson is, in my view, one of the most revealing press interviews he has done.

Joe Jackson has quite recently posted audio recordings on-line of a lot of the interviews he has done.

I had been aware from a magazine publication of the Cliff Richard interview he did, containing among other dialogue, Cliff Richard's unusual perspective on 'evil': quoted in the article as "Unfortunately, what we all do as mortals is choose evil rather than good most of the time..." [Woman's Own, 17.09.1990]

The logical inference to be drawn from this line was that he - Cliff Richard - chooses evil rather than good most of the time. He is wrong that this is what "we all" do; but, since "we all" undoubtedly includes himself - Cliff Richard - this can only be taken as an admission from him that evil dominates over good in his own activities.

The audio of the interview, including the evil-related dialogue can be found on the Listen Notes website in 'The Joe Jackson Interviews'. Specific title is: Cliff Richard Unleashed and Uncensored 1989. It was posted on August 21st 2020, and lasts 32 minutes 20 seconds. Short excerpt follows here...

JOE JACKSON [Interviewer]

You said... There's an evil me that is constantly trying to override the good.

CLIFF RICHARD

Yeah.

JOE JACKSON

Could you describe the evil you?

CLIFF RICHARD

No, because it's.. it's.. it's too in.. it's..  it's the embodiment of what I am...
